Its finally here... Christmas is 2 days away! And 2 crazy days will they be! With all the cooking, cleaning, getting ready for company, and whatever else we all do to get ready for this holiday, It can be so easy for us to get caught up in everything and forget what Christmas is really about.
What the world has done with Christmas is they've taken a day that was intended to be all about JESUS and turned it in to a holiday all about us. What WE want, what WE get, what WE give, what WE buy. Instead of what HE did, what HE gave, and what HE is still giving. And although everyone loves getting gifts, spending time with family and eating a lot of food, we need to stay focused on what this holiday is really about. Now before I continue, I'm not saying getting gifts and all that stuff is bad, I'm just saying sometimes we get so caught up in it we forget what we are really suppose to be celebrating.
One thing I'm going to say is , OH MY SOUL, what an obedient women of God Mary is. Can you imagine being a young girl, having a normal life, about to get married and all of the sudden, an angel appears to her and says,"you are going to be the mother of The son of God.".... And she says:
"Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her. Luke 1:38
WOW! I don't know if that would have been my immediate response. I think I would be in shock lol. But Mary was willing and gave God her YES, which is amazing and will be talked about more in depth in the future. Giving God our YES!
God sent his one and only son to come down to earth as a baby to save us because he loves us that much... that he would give up His one and only son that He loved SO much, to save us......
Now I'm sure most, if not all of you, have heard the Christmas story but if you haven't heard this beautiful story, I would recommend reading the book of Luke!
I know this is a shorter blog but I just wanted to remind myself and all of you why we celebrate Christmas in the first place. It's not about what we get or what we give, its about what he gave us!
So I hope and pray you all have a wonderful Christmas reflecting on the birth of JESUS!!
Thank you so much for reading this blog I hope you enjoyed it!!
