Defining Worship In A 3 Part Blog Series
Welcome to my 3 part blog series on WORSHIP. Worship is such a huge passion of mine, And I get a lot of questions on this topic since I'm apart of the worship team. So this three part series is going to be answering some of those questions. The three topics are:
What is worship?
Why do we worship?
What Are You Worshiping?
What is Worship?!?
When you hear the word worship what do you think of? Do you think of singing in church? Well if you did your not alone most of the people I asked said that very same thing. And your right singing in church is act worship, but its not the only act of worship😱….thats right there’s more than one way to worship!
So lets start with the What! What is worship?!? Austin stone explains this in a beautiful way!
“Biblical worship is a full life response, Head, Heart and Hands, Response to who God is and what he has done” -Austin stone
Lets brake it down to Head, Heart, and Hands
Head- To set our minds on thing’s above.
Heart- Be effectively stirred up by God.
Hands- To serve God and exult the church. lifting my hands in surrender to God.
Good questions to ask yourself that I ask myself often.
Head- What do I believe?
Heart- What do I love?
Hands- What do I practice? OR What/how do I serve?
Life- What do I model? How do I live? What dose my life reflect?
A verse that refers to this is LUKE 4:8
Jesus Answered “It is written: ‘Worship the LORD your God and serve him only’ “
Worship is not only singing in church. Worship is a head, heart, and hands response to who God is and what he has done. There are many forms of how we can worship God including but not limited to…
Serving
Spending time with him by studying his word
Worshiping him outside of church
Using our gifts to glorify him
So to close I want to challenge you to yourself with these questions!
What do you Define Worship as?
How are you worshiping God?
How can you worship God more?
I Would love to hear from y’all!!!
