Worship Part 2: Why Do We Worship

Updated: Dec 15, 2018

In my last blog WORSHIP PART 1, I answered the question "What is Worship?" And how worship is a Head, Heart, and Hands response to who God is and what he has done.

In this blog we are going to be talking about the WHY.

"Why Do We Worship"

When a new phone, car, makeup line, clothing line, or video game comes out and it the best of the best and I mean nothing can compare or even measure up to it, as I heard in a commercial once "It doesn't raise the bar, it is the bar." You might find yourself praising or even worshiping the creator for creating such a wonderful creation. Well God made something even better than the newest phone or game. He made us! You, me, your family, the cashier at target, your teacher at school, boss at work, friends, everyone. And I don't know about you but that's something worth praising and worshiping our creator for. In Psalms 86: 9-10 it says,

9 All the nations you have made shall come and worship before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name.10 For you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God.

WOW this verse holds so much power and truth every time I read it I get goosebumps! LOL

Every nation will worship the LORD, "The Creator" and THEY bring glory to His name and His name alone. In Psalms 95:6-7 it says,

6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker! 7 For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.

God isn't like us. He doesn't have the fleshly desire to be worshiped or praised . He doesn't command us to worship Him so that He can be reminded about how awesome and wonderful He is, And how desperately we need Him. God made us worshipers because we need it. God never changes when we worship Him. When we worship Him we change in the best way possible. Worship is so important for your relationship with Jesus.

And I know some of you are probably thinking "I know worship is important but I don't like to sing." First of all God made us to worship him in multiple ways but singing is a form of worship and is something God talks about and calls us to do multiple times in the bible. So it must be very important. And second of all I know multiple people that go to church and worship services and sing a little but mostly pray and talk to God during a worship services And instead of singing the lyrics they declare and pray them over their life and God still changes their hearts and speaks to them.

1 Oh sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth! 2 Sing to the Lord, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day.

Something someone very wise always reminds me is...

"It doesn't matter what you voice sounds like it only matters where your heart is, why you are worshiping, and what you singing and declaring."

God doesn't only listen to those who have beautiful voices and hit every note perfectly , And thank the LORD for that because if that was the case we would all be in trouble. LOL He looks at your heart and listens to what what are singing and declaring to him. And when our hearts are in the right place and we are worship wholeheartedly and declaring truth, It is the most beautiful sound to the LORD!

God tells us to worship Him. We were made to worship and praise! But the problem we run into now is what are we worshiping? And, are we worshiping the right thing?

And the answer is.....
